Local schools, surf clubs, junior sports clubs, palliative and aged care centres, programs for people with disabilities and youth centres, are just a few of the valuable community organisations that share around $1M in financial and in-kind support from Twin Towns each year, through the ClubGRANTS scheme.

Recent recipient of funding through ClubGRANTS was the Tweed Valley Sailing Club’s junior program.

Last month, they received a handy boost of $2,500 through ClubGRANTS, which enabled them to purchase an aluminium trailer, which came with four new boats. 

Club Commodore Bill Fenelon said the Junior Sailing Club offers a low-cost sail training program for kids from its base at Fingal.

“Over the years, the junior club has grown, with around 40 kids in attendance each weekend.”

Bill said the grant will have a huge impact on the future of the junior club and their attendance at regattas at other locations.

“We often travel to regattas on the Clarence River, where up to 100 juniors from all over the region attend weekend sailing camps.

“With our new trailer, we will be able to take up to eight boats, “said Bill.

Chair of the Twin Towns Donations Committee and Deputy Chair of Twin Towns, Brian Brown, said it was an honour for the Club to be in a position to support junior sport and other community organisations.

“Twin Towns members should be proud to know their Club is out there in the community, supporting junior sport, and helping to provide the equipment they need to progress their clubs,” said Brian.
