In the past year, Twin Towns has continued its much-needed financial support of the amazing work of the Clontarf Academy at Tweed River High School with donations totalling $26,775.
Twin Towns also hosts groups of students free-of-charge for end-of-term ‘Top Trainer’ breakfasts throughout the year.
Established in 2000, the Clontarf Foundation works to improve the education, discipline, self-esteem, life skills and employment prospects of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys.
From fitness sessions to community volunteering, employment forums and engaging activities, Tweed River High’s Academy provides comprehensive support aimed at enriching the boys’ experience and life skills.
As well as $16,000 from ClubGRANTS to fund enrolments for eight students, another $10,775 was donated to purchase a trailer.
Taking the boys on overnight camping trips, day trips and sporting carnivals is an integral part of the Clontarf Academy’s program. The new trailer will increase their capacity to carry gear and equipment, allowing more students to attend these special events.
The work of the Clontarf Academy and its leaders is highly regarded by the Board. Directors are always impressed by the outstanding manners, behaviour and confidence displayed by the students whenever they visit the Club.
The Clontarf Academy is set to receive more funding in the latest round of ClubGRANTS which will be announced soon.
