Very few improvements have been made to the stage and dressing room area of the heritage-listed Tyalgum Community Hall since it was built in 1908.
The committee’s to-do list was a long one, with many projects way out of reach.
They knew fundraising to replace the aging stage curtain was always going to be a tough gig for the small but dedicated committee.
The floods and subsequent lengthy closure of Tyalgum Road made life even more difficult for the isolated township.
Twin Towns Services Community Foundation heard their call for help and responded with a donation of $18,000.
Deputy Chairman David Phillips said the Tyalgum Community Hall had more than its fair share of setbacks over the years and deserved a break.
“We hope Twin Towns members take immense pride when they visit Tyalgum and see the plush red curtains glide open on a concert in this historically significant and much-loved local hall.”
