The new year is looking bright for The Family Centre at Tweed Heads South, thanks to a Twin Towns’ donation of $54,400 to purchase a Kia Carnival.
Previously, the Family Centre’s fleet consisted of small four-door hatchbacks and an ageing SUV, which was in dire need of costly repairs.
Twin Towns was pleased to respond to their call for assistance!
Just before Christmas, the Family Centre took delivery of the brand new 8-seater Kia Carnival, thanks to a Twin Towns’ ClubGRANTS donation which covered the cost of the car as well as 12 months registration.
The spacious new vehicle will enable the Centre to provide transport and support for some of the most vulnerable families in the local community.
Many of these families have limited or no access to a vehicle or suitable public transport to get to appointments, school or carry out general errands.
The vehicle will be essential for trans-porting large families, especially those needing car seats or space for prams.
Already, the Kia is being used to assist families relocating due to family and domestic violence, with enough space to transport their personal belongings as well.
“Twin Towns’ generous donation of the Kia Carnival is a game-changer for us,” said David Boutkan, Executive Director of The Family Centre.
“This vehicle will allow us to better support and transport vulnerable families in our community, ensuring they have access to essential services and activities.”
