HELP MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN
This month we’re proud and excited to announce the three community projects that will receive a cash boost from Twinnies Gives.
How much each project gets is decided by the local community. The project with the most votes gets $3,000, the other two receive $500 each.
This time, the voting station will be at Club Banora. Remember, every vote counts. Voting starts 1 September.
Here is a snapshot of the three projects:
Kids In Need (KIN)
For over four decades, this community organisation has supported children with additional needs or chronic illnesses.
KIN’s Community Choice project is all about making Christmas merrier for some deserving young local kids!
The festive season can be a vulnerable time for struggling families and KIN plans to lift their spirits by putting presents under Christmas trees.
What a surprise these kids will get when they wake up Christmas morning and discover what Santa has brought them this year.
Watergum Community Inc
Watergum works to restore, maintain and safeguard natural ecosystems across our region.
The TurtleWatch program aims to protect endangered sea turtles by monitoring nests and hatchling success on our beaches.
The money will help train new community volunteers to monitor turtle nesting, collect data and help protect turtle hatchlings, empowering locals to contribute to real conservation outcomes.
Incredibly, last year 289 hatchlings were safely released. Let’s help Watergum set a new record!
You Have A Friend Inc
This 100 percent not-for-profit organisation based in Tweed supports the many homeless, marginalised and struggling single parents in our community.
The organisation provides grocery items and fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as clothing, sleeping bags and other day-to-day necessities. They also provide 300-plus meals a week for the homeless and those in need.
The money from Twinnies Gives will help buy food items for the weekly breakfasts they conduct on the streets for the homeless.
How to vote:
To vote for your favourite project, make a purchase of $25 or more at Club Banora to receive a token. Place your token in the container for the project you think is most deserving. The round concludes on Sunday 2 November.
